📚 Training Workshop for Syrian Women in Reyhanlı

With support from the UN Democracy Fund, the Centre for Transnational Development and Collaboration (CTDC) conducted a two-day training workshop in Reyhanlı, Turkey, as part of the Zeytuna Project implemented by MANDAT International.
The workshop was designed to engage and empower Syrian refugee women by building knowledge around women’s rights and gender equality.

👭 Participants and Key Topics
Approximately 40 Syrian women participated in the training, which covered a range of critical topics, including:
• International and local discourses on women’s rights
• The social construction of gender and sexuality
• Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV)
• The role and importance of women’s mobilisation and solidarity

🗣️ Safe Space for Dialogue
Delivered in a participatory and inclusive format, the workshop offered a safe space for women to speak openly and share their experiences, challenges, and aspirations.

Key Outcome
One of the most impactful outcomes of the workshop was the formation of a women’s committee by the attendees themselves—aiming to foster support, build networks, and raise awareness.

📑 Next Steps
CTDC is currently preparing a report based on the narratives and insights shared during the workshop. This report will highlight the specific struggles faced by Syrian refugee women in southern Turkey.

💜 Our Commitment
This initiative reflects CTDC’s ongoing commitment to feminist-informed, community-led approaches in contexts of displacement and crisis.
